I discovered him at a young age, and he has always been a very special person to me.
Brian Warner grew up in Canton, Ohio; where he got most of his inspiration as a kid. His parents sent him to a Christian school, and he hated everything they taught there. It scared him how they were trying to control what the kids were thinking.
When he was 18, he became a music journalist. While working as a journalist, he met Scott Mitchell, a guitarist. Mitchell took the name Daisy Berkowitz, while Warner took Marilyn Manson. They soon got bassist Gigdet Gein and Madonna Wayne-Gacy; and they formed the group Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids.
Later, they traded out their bassist for Twiggy Ramirez, and it was all uphill from there.
Marilyn Manson receives a lot of criticism and prejudice. Probably more than anybody I've ever heard of. But, that's what happens when you get that famous. Every move you make is watched ever so closely, and it you make a slight mistake, everybody knows. The thing I really love about Marilyn Manson that some people may hate, is that he is so infamous. For example, if any mainstream hipster say a goth or someone dressed gothicly inclined, a lot of time they would say, "It's Marilyn Manson." Or, "That looks like Marilyn Manson." I just find it cool that he's become that famous to where even the hipsters know him. Now, people might not like that because Manson's music is not goth. But I think the fact that he's that infamous is amazing.
Another thing about Marilyn Manson that I hate, is the prejudice regarding the Columbine High School massacre. On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold commited a school shooting. They murdered 12 students and 1 teacher. This attack is the biggest massacre in America at a school. Afterwards, the blame had to go to someone, and Marilyn Manson was one of them. Also, something that I just found out on Wikipedia that made me extremely infuriated... so they gave the things that people blamed it on, and there was a link to a page ABOUT THE GOTH SUBCULTURE. Okay, so I probably already knew that we were some of the people being blamed, but it just really hit me.
SO, they blamed Manson, along with KMFDM and Rammstein (which I did not know). They said that the kids were dressed "goth." Apparently trenchcoats are goth. Homeless people wear trench coats! You might see a goth wearing one. So, just because these boys were dressed a certain way, they assumed that they were a style, and they assumed that they liked these different bands, Manson being one of them.
The boys were not in their right mind. Harris was a diagnosed psychopath, and Klebold was a depressive. Yet they blame music and us goths for it.
Sometimes I just don't understand people.
Anyway, I'll stop ranting and get to the good stuff. The music itself!
Since Manson was so visual about his music, I'm going to talk about the music videos and mention the albums they are in.
Lunchbox
Lunchbox was Manson's first music video and hit. You see in the video that this was when he was very young, and had eyebrows =P Also, you can tell their sound was a lot different what with a lot of different people.
This song is from the album "Portrait Of An American Family"
This was actually Manson's first record ever, and a good one at that.
The Dope Show
This music video was amazing. It really shocked audiences back then, but some of the things he does are genius. Also, he's much more cleaned up than earlier; more pretty. The song and video are about how when you're famous, everybody love you. When you're on the cover of the magazine, they love you, when you're not, they don't. He really reminds me of Lady Gaga in this video, and I think it's because she's was most influenced by him at this period of his career.
This song is from the album "Mechanical Animals."
This whole album is amazing. Other good songs beside "The Dope Show" are: Mechanical Animals, Rock Is Dead, I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me), and Coma White.
This Is The New Shit
This song is good, and the video makes it even better. It shows him going to the concert venue and getting ready. It's quiet good. This song is from the album "The Golden Age Of Grotesque."
This album is really showing who MM is a more mature artist. He's made his big debut and now it's time to do something different. This songs has many good songs, and there's a few other music videos from it:
mOBSCENE
Another good one from "The Golden Age of Grotesque." The video has a lot of dancing strippers and weird uniforms. And he has a rather dashing suit that he wears in it. Yet another really good song.
(s)AINT
This is great song. But beware, this is his most explicit video, so watch with caution. Just so you know, this video is basically like watching porn. So, don't watch it if you don't want that. Great song, though. Also from "The Golden Age of Grotesque."
The Beautiful People
This video is pretty good, but I like the song better. This is one of the most popular songs. Probably the first Manson song I ever heard. This song is from the album "Antichrist Superstar."
Which was a really big one, that has a few other music videos:
Tourniquet
This is one of my favorite music videos by him. He looks so attractive in it, and it's just genius. In it, he's keeping this weird creature thing. It's hard to explain, just watch the video. I also really like the song too.
Man That You Fear
Once again he is super attractive in this one. I mean, just look at that face! But yeah it's a really good quieter song, and the video goes well with it. This is also from "Antichrist Superstar."
Personal Jesus
This song is a Depeche Mode cover. I talk about it more in my post: http://averyanarchy.blogspot.com/2013/05/covers-good-and-bad.html
But the video is awesome, and I especially like the part where he's holding a baby. It's cute as hell.
This song is from the album "Lest We Forget - The Best Of."
Great album. Just listen to it, now.
The Fight Song
This is the most angry Manson song ever. Like the whole song is a punky, "fuck the system" type thing. It has anarchy written all over it, and that's what I'm all about. The video gives it the perfect visual. Juts watch it. I can't even describe it, you need to watch it to see what I mean.
This song is also from "Lest We Forget."
Tainted Love
This song is a Soft Cell cover, but it is on a movie that I forget the name of. The video is soooo good. Just look at the picture. You already know it's gonna be good, so watch it!
Also from "Lest We Forget."
Disposable Teens
I'm not crazy about this song, tbh. But the video makes it okay. He wears this cool looking priest uniform. And there's all these rituals going on. It's quiet cool.
Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)
This song was their big hit. What makes it even cooler is it's a cover of a Eurithmics song. How often is a band's most popular song a cover? Like never. So I thought that was cool, but also the video is really shocking and perfect for the personality of the band.
Also from "Lest We Forget."
The Nobodies
This is my all time favorite Manson video. It's just the best. Supposedly, (not sure if this is true) this song was written for the Columbine High School shooting. If so, that is so cool that he'd write a song about that. And this song is just perfect for it.
Long Hard Road Out Of Hell
This is a great song, but tbh he looks like a girl in this one. Stahp Marilyn I like you too much, don't be a girl. Please? But yeah, great song, bad video because he looks like a girl. But hey, you might like it, you never know.
Also from "Lest We Forget."
No Reflection
Okay, I'm not going to lie about this one. Don't like the video because he looks old. Okay, I said it. Yeah, it makes me really sad to see how old he is =( I miss the old days. Good song, though.
This song is from "Born Villian."
Slo-mo-tion
Like this video, and the song. He doesn't look old =) I also love Twiggy's makeup look
Overneath The Path Of Misery

It's kinda confusing, cause this video is labeled as "Born Villain" on youtube, but it's actually this song. It's quite explicit just a forewarning. And look!! He doesn't look old! YAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And this came out last year.. He must be immortal or something. Cool.
I wanna talk more about how amazingly perfect Marilyn Manson is, but sadly I can't. If I missed any music videos, feel free to let me know. I think I got them all...
But yeah, Marilyn Manson is an amazing band and an even better person. Listen to his music, watch the videos, stalk him. Well, maybe don't stalk him.. But love him, he's a very loveable person, trust me.
